I'm looking for a fishing buddy. My old fishing buddies rarely want to go anymore. Kids' sports, work schedules, wives, etc. I have a small jon boat dry slipped at Smith Lake. Rarely get up there.I live in Shelby county. I have a house and a two car garage.Got elderly mother-in-law in one garage bay, the wife in the other. The neighbor hood association my enemy about keeping boat in the yard. Even with my nice cover on it.Frustrating ! I grew up fishing the Warrior River around Lost Creek and Howton's Camp on Bankhead. I always help with gas and launch fee .I don't yak like a gossipy old hen and I'm a humble winner and not a sore looser. I understand how anyone would be a little skeptic about fishing with a total stranger. I'm clean cut, no drugs, social drinker (not on the water) and I'm a serious weekend angler.Yet I like it to be fun, not serious in a bad way.

Maybe we can get a trip up soon. The original intent of the site was for the same purpose. I had a couple of regular fishing buddies that were either on the verge of divorce because they fished too much or gainfully unemployed and breaking my bank by riding along. Since the site originally started several years ago I have met a bunch of great guys, gained several new lifelong friends and we have recently started a tournament trail. The boards don't stay very active partially because I don't always have time to pay them the attention they deserve but you can also find Alabama Fishing Buddy on FaceBook as well as AFB Tournament Series. Our family has a house on the Warrior on Hurricane Creek across the river from Franklin Ferry so I called that water home growing up and learned to fish there.

I know just where that is. (Hurricane Creek). Good fishing there by Franklin's Ferry. Honestly, some of my buddies are just to lazy to go fishing anymore. One has gotten fat and has pre-diabetes. He works his 3 acre garden from a tractor and works 3 12 hour shifts at the hospital. He has all kind of free time to fish but he just lost interest.Sold his boat. I use a lot of my personal days and vacation days fishing.I'm blessed to have them.

I know how tough it can be to find someone who is able to go during the week. I typically work Monday-Wednesday and then have the rest of the week to either fish or get caught up on jig orders. I do have a first grader so I have to make arrangements for her to get off the bus with a neighbor so I'm no good last minute but can usually go on a Thursday or Friday. Hit me up sometime at 205-478-2977 and let's get together and fish one day soon.

Thank you for the invitation, that is very kind of you. I will give you a ring one day. I can get a day off during the week most any time. I like fishing with out the heavy boat traffic and jet skiers that you get on weekends. I understand the situation with your daughter, I remember those days.I wish my step kids were that age again LOL. Do you make jigs? I see you get caught up on jig orders. I have a co-worker who fishes lots of tournaments at Guntersville who makes his own jigs and spoons. That's about all he fishes with, he does well with them.

I have a tackle site at www.rockhardtackle.com. Made a go at it about a year ago but ended up shutting it down to rework the business model. I fired it back up a few months ago and it has really taken off. I sell a ton on Facebook as well as through the website.

My name is Brian by the way. It's nice to have met you. I'll get some pics posted soon. I viewed your tackle web site. It has some very cool stuff. Unique looking stuff you don't see at bass pro or academy. Really liked the PB and J colored worms. I'll pass on the links at work. We have a good bit of serious anglers at UAB Maint.

You sure you where at the right place? I don't sell any worms at all... All I do is jigs, shakey heads, screwlock shakey heads, wacky heads and dropshot weights. I don't fool with plastics.
Nice to meet you though Brian. I'm Robert.

That was jig skirts I was looking at, my bad. I'm in denial about wearing my reading glasses. I've fished shakey heads before, they wok well on Smith. Never had much luck drop shotting. I've seen a lot of fishing shows where they tear em up on the drop shot.Especially for small mouth in the upper mid west. I do love fishing with light line and spinning outfits.

I picked up a dropshot and whacked 'em with it on Bankhead Sunday. I just got back from spending a week down there and had a blast. A dropshot can be a very good tool and I use it as a follow up bait a lot of times when I am on shakey head fish and the bite slows down. We had a bunch of spotted bass stacked up Sunday and were picking them off with a shakey head. The bite turned off suddenly and we went several minutes without a bite but I could still see fish on the electronics. I picked up that dropshot and they went right back to eating.

I tried it at Smith and had no luck with it. Bankhead? That's my favorite place to fish. I haven't been there in two years.Since I don't store my boat here at home anymore.Last time I went to Bankhead, I caught a 2lb. crappie, three white bass, one big spot, a couple of small largemouths and a 9lb blue cat. All off Crappie sliders on sixteenth or eighth ounce jig heads.I put in at Clevenger's that day. Love the warrior river. Where do you launch from there?

I always put in at Franklin Ferry because it is within 2 minutes of the house. We ran one of our website tournaments out of there last January and even though it was cold (well below freezing that morning), my partner and I had right at 17 pounds. Attachments:

I have an upcoming tournament on Lay Lake and was wondering if there was anyone looking for a tournament partner for this weekend (4/20,21) or if anyone would be willing to show me around the lake. I am from Georgia and my name is B.Whitley and my contact # is 706-302-2014.
