I started this trail this season because I had talked with several of you guys and everyone was gung-ho to do it but I have to admit that I am getting discouraged. We had a decent turnout at the beginning of the season but several guys had low weights at a few tournaments and threw in the towel. We are at the point in the season where I am looking back over results and shaking my head wondering why I am wasting my time...
We are working on some serious changes for next year to keep the tournaments closer to home by staying on the Coosa and adding a Classic at the end of the year but before I go any further I need to know if there is an interest in keeping this club alive. Moral support really isn't very supportive. You have to actually hook the boat to the truck and come to the ramp to support the club.
Please let me know if there are changes that we can make that would encourage more of you to show up. I need some idea of how many of you guys will actually attend the tournaments next season before I decide wether or not to spend the money and time necessary to keep this thing going or if we just need to go ahead and shut it down.
I don't make a dime off of running this trail. It costs money to keep the website up and running and I spend hour upon hour working on a schedule, dragging the scales to the ramp and then being disappointed when 2 or 3 guys care enough to show up. It becomes very discouraging at some point and I have reached the point where I am ready to throw my arms up, finish up this season and then just shut her down.
The bottom line is that I need to know if there is interest in keeping this trail running. There are plenty of clubs out there and the idea with this one was to actually have something where the members ran the club instead of one person making all the decisions and as long as we have a few guys who like the comraderie and are willing to come out and fish we will keep it going but if participation is not going to be there I can't see the point in wasting anymore time.
End of rant...
