Fished the BWS on Weiss this past Saturday and had a tough time figuring it out. The weather was crazy all week and some of the better ledge fish that I have been catching up there decided to suspend and lockjaw on me.
I managed to put together a limit around 11.5 pounds which was good enough for 24th place anchored by a 4.36 pound big fish mostly fishing shakey heads tight to the bank on the main channel and dragging 3/4 oz. Rock Hard Tackle jigs on the channel ledge in 15-30' of water.
Following the rains of last week, the water was slightly stained and got more color once you got above the highway bridge. Water temp was 85 degrees and there was no noticeable movement of water.
Weiss has been on a typical summertime pattern and deep cranking has been a very productive technique for the past several weeks. This past weekend I was thrown a curveball but that crankbait bite will be back soon and has been a lot of fun this summer.
